Hydroxyphenyl Propamidobenzoic Acid is a synthetic avenanthramide analog — a compound structurally inspired by the natural itch-calming actives found in oats. Avenanthramides are the key phenolic amides responsible for oat’s well-documented ability to soothe itchy, inflamed skin, and this synthetic version delivers the same targeted calming action with enhanced stability and bioavailability in a leave-on formulation.
It works by modulating the inflammatory pathways responsible for the itch-scratch cycle — reducing histamine-driven itch, calming skin redness and supporting barrier recovery in eczema-prone and atopic skin.
